Fulfilled by Amazon, or FBA, is Amazon’s program that lets you buy things in person and then resell them on Amazon to make a profit.

You’ll need to have some spare money to get started with this, but it’s much less risky than the usual way of selling on Amazon, where you’ll never know when you’ll actually sell your stock. With Amazon FBA, however, you simply ship everything to Amazon which pays you for it upfront, instead of having to wait for the items to sell.

It can take a bit of a learning curve to get set up but, once you do, it’s a really passive way to make some income given that it’s almost completely hands off on your part.

And the reason this is online is that you definitely don’t have to change someone’s life in person. Instead, platforms like Zoom are perfectly fine for doing things like this, especially after this has become much more accepted following 2020.

30. Personal trainer

You may not immediately consider working as a personal trainer as an online job, but this is more than possible these days.

A lot of online personal trainers also ask the clients to record themselves doing workouts, so that you can then give tips on their form.

You can also then ask them to send photos of the space they want help in designing, although it can help for them to walk you around during the video call to point out issues and to get tips.

From there, it’s up to you how you want to provide your interior design advice. This can range from simply providing a list of suggestions to even doing a complete mock up of the space to be designed in an application that can do this.

Having an eye for detail will help as well customer service skills, given that you’ll probably be interacting directly with the potential borrower.

41. Online juror

You may not have heard of an online tour before, but it’s a really interesting position if you’re able to get it.

It involves you working with lawyers to help them prepare for trial and practice their arguments. Lawyers often want to see how their arguments are received by actual people before having to face the real jury, so that’s where you come in.

You’ll be asked to give feedback on their arguments, particularly regarding whether you’re convinced the clients position has been properly justified.

You can find positions like this on sites like  eJury, although they’re not available all the time so you may have to check a few times before finding something. If you do manage to get a job like this, expect to earn up to $150 for your time, although this can go up for more complicated cases.

Can I get paid to be a stay at home mom?

It’s much easier now to be paid to be a stay at home mom as more jobs shift to an online setting. This means that many positions now have the flexibility that stay at home moms need to balance their work and child-related responsibilities.

For example, things like working as a transcriptionist, scopist or bookkeeper would likely have required you to actually be in an office previously. But thanks to the internet, you can now do many of these kinds of roles online, meaning that they can basically be done from anywhere.

The rise of freelance roles has also been amazing for stay at home moms looking to work. It’s meant that positions that may have previously been more fixed in terms of when and how they had to be done are now available more flexibly. This allows you to accept more work when you know you can manage it and less work when things may be busier at home.

Importantly, all this also means that they can essentially be done at any time, too. Most online legit jobs for stay at home moms will have a deadline by which you have to complete work, but you’re then free to do this work at any time before then that suits you. Whether that’s nap time, while the kids are busy with other things or even after they’ve gone to bed, it’s now much easier to make these kinds of roles work around your schedule.

What stay at home jobs are real?

All of the stay at home jobs on this list are real. However, it’s true that there are scammers out there even in these fields, so to make sure that a stay at home job is legit, check online for reviews both from former customers and, ideally, former workers.

Unfortunately, when it comes to online jobs, there are always people looking to take advantage of others – even if the job itself, more generally, is completely real. This is why it’s always a good idea to make sure that everything seems to be above board.

In particular, if you’re asked at any point to send money in order to do a job, run. No company offering legitimate stay at home jobs will ask you to pay something to allow you to work, so it’s almost certainly a scam if that’s what’s happening.

You should also be careful of multilevel marketing schemes, also known as MLMs. Despite what the person who contacted you on social media probably told you, very few people make money through these. Instead, you’ll probably find yourself investing your own money with little to show for it, despite the fact that most legit work from home jobs for moms have no fees.

While it’s clear that these do offer very attractive opportunities, including for stay at home moms, it’s good to be wary and do your research before agreeing to anything – and especially before starting to use your own money to “build your business” in these kinds of schemes. After all, the goal here is to make legitimate money from home.

What are the highest paying stay at home jobs?

The fact that you’re working from home definitely doesn’t mean that you can’t earn serious money in these kinds of roles. In particular, some of the highest paying stay at home jobs include:

  • Printable seller – Tracie Fobes earns thousands of dollars from selling her printables every month. She explains exactly how she does it in her course, Easy Printables.
  • Ebook author – With people making up to $40,000 per month doing this, there’s definitely good money to be made here.
  • Flipping – Rob and Melissa Stephenson made $130,000 in their first year flipping as just a side hustle. You may remember them from earlier: they’re the ones with a free webinar to show you how to do the same thing.

To find out more about these highest paying online jobs – which you can either do full time or as side jobs for moms at home – take a look at these seven people who make $10,000 a month doing these jobs as side hustles.

(And with those kinds of figures, why would you even consider one of these illegal side hustles…)

How stay at home moms can live financially

For stay at home moms to live financially, it’s pretty obvious that it’s not simply a case of getting a job and then all your problems will be solved. Instead, there are some key steps you can take as a stay at home mom to make sure you can survive financially:

  1. Start a budget – It’s important to make sure that your money is being used as effectively as possible. Starting a budget can help you do just that, by making sure you know exactly where every dollar is going. This free budget template is a great place to start.
  2. Find a source of income – Your time is probably going to be pretty tight, given the time needed to look after your children. This is why finding a source of income that works for you, such as one of these online jobs for stay at home moms, is key.
  3. Allocate money to your financial goals when you’re paid – Most people wait until the end of the month to use whatever money is leftover to pay off debt or add to your savings. A much better strategy is to do that on the day you’re paid, to make sure this is taken care of.
  4. Build your emergency fund – You never know when a financial emergency is around the corner, especially as you also have your kids to worry about. This means that having an emergency fund of three to six months’ worth of living expenses could make all the difference if the worst were to happen.
  5. Avoid high-interest debt – Putting expenses on your credit card and not paying off the balance each month is one of the worst things you can do in terms of your finances. To avoid that interest spiralling out of control, cut up that credit card and take steps to start living within your means.
  6. Meal plan – Groceries are one of the biggest expenses in any household, but especially if you have kids. To help with this, meal planning is going to be a life saver, by making sure you’re basing your meals around cheap, filling ingredients.

It’s pretty obvious that stay at home moms need this flexibility to work around their kids’ schedules – otherwise, these jobs simply won’t be possible to manage.

(And the same applies for anyone looking for jobs for pregnant women. That is, if you’re a soon-to-be mom, you can work in basically any job you want! But if you want more flexibility and less moving at this stage of your life, those jobs definitely meet that criteria.)

While most of them will involve you having deadlines by which you have to submit work to your clients or employer, they basically leave you open to do this work any time before that point. This makes them perfect for stay at home moms who may not be able to work a traditional nine-to-five workday and are instead looking for, say, flexible part time online jobs.
